What we Believe

What We Believe

We believe in living out our Christian faith as effectively as possible, having an impact on those who have not yet heard or experienced the great news about Jesus Christ.

A. STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
We in Eastern Avenue Baptist Church are a community of God’s people. We are a local expression of the Body of Christ that exists as an organism through whom God desires to bring about His Kingdom rule on earth.

B. STATEMENT OF BELIEF

Doctrinally, we are an evangelical church which subscribes to the Declaration of Principle of the Baptist Union and the Basis of Faith of the Evangelical Alliance.

We the Church believe:

1.     In God as a Trinity of persons in unity: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
2.
In the triune God as the creator of the world and mankind over which He is         sovereign.
3.
In God the Son, Jesus Christ, as the supreme head of the Church, the universal         body of Christ which finds its expression in a local Church.
4.
In the Divine inspiration and infallibility of the Bible, as originally given, and in         its supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice containing all         guidance necessary to salvation. All continuing words of preaching, prophecy         and the exercise of gifts must therefore be subject to Biblical revelation.
5.
That all mankind are sinners by nature and by choice and therefore subject to         God’s wrath and condemnation to eternal Hell.
6.
Our redemption from this fallen sinful state is only through the sacrificial
and substitutionary death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross.
7.
In the literal bodily resurrection of Christ from the dead, who ascended into
Heaven where He now intercedes for all who believe.
8.
For God to make the death and resurrection effective in each of our lives we         need a spiritual new birth by the Holy Spirit, which comes through the         repentance of all sins and confession that Jesus Christ is both Saviour and         Lord. In this way we receive eternal life with God. We acknowledge that His         Church consists only of such redeemed believers.
9.
That to serve Jesus as Lord we need the indwelling and empowering work of         the Holy Spirit. That as believers we should continuously be filled with God’s         Spirit, which results in us having the power: - to witness, to minister, to fulfil         our calling, to be holy and Christlike. The evidence of the Holy Spirit’s presence         and activity is seen in the fruit of Christian character.
10.
In Baptism, by which we mean the total immersion in water of a believer as an         act of obedient discipleship and witness to our individual faith in Christ.
11.
In the celebration of the Lord’s Supper as a corporate act of fellowship and         continual remembrance of the atoning work of Christ on the cross.
12.
In the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ as Lord for us as part of his         redeemed people, the Church

Planning your Visit

Hello And A Warm Welcome

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at the Church Building (details here) for our Sunday Service. When you arrive, you will be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits after the service ends. It is a great way to meet and get to know people and learn about our Church life, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Our Service

The main service begins at 10:30am with a warm welcome from one of our team members.

What about my children?

Currently, children stay with their parent or grown-up throughout the Sunday service. We really value worshipping God all together as a family.  Children are engaged in the service where they can hear and learn teachings based on Bible stories; followed by children worship song. But, we are always prepared and aim at having a Sunday school and Bible teaching for children when they turn up in higher numbers with their families on any Sunday.
